Have you ever gone hunting for a special graphic on the Web - you know, a picture of your favorite type of cat, or a photo of a P-51 mustang, or an image of Bill Gates - only to be frustrated out of your mind because you have to do a search and then click through to dozens of pages only to find images that aren't at all what you had in mind. Don't work so hard, get the Internet Graphics Finder (GRIF for short). This fine piece of software is a 32-bit Windows application that searches the Lycos, AltaVista, Yahoo! or Corbis image archives. Its big advantage is that it lets you view thumbnails of images before you click through to a site - that can save you loads of time. Just enter a keyword search, use the tree view to access the search site, and watch the images come in. GRIF supports JPG, GIF (animated), and BMP image file formats. You can also search for images in multiple levels and in predefined categories including arrows, balls, bullets, buttons, lines, backgrounds, icons, clip art, and animated GIFs. And all the predefined sites that GRIF accesses offer public domain images. Local computer or network images can also be shown in the GRIF Gallery. There's a great image viewer for taking a closer look at thumbnails. The Viewer offers features such as Save, Convert, Print, Resize, Flip, Rotate, Reverse, Special Effects, Color Resolution, Zoom, Copy and Paste.
